My 5 year old daughter gets heart surgery next week

My little girl was born with 2 holes in her heart between her atria.
They won't resolve with age and yesterday we received a letter to say the corrective surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday.

It is done under general anaesthetic and she will be in hospital for three days if it all goes to plan.
A catheter is inserted through a leg vein with a little device which will close off the holes. If it is not a success she will have open heart surgery later this year.
Have any of you had experience of this procedure?
Thanks.

I hope that everythig went very well for your little one, and you.
She has to be a lucky little girl to have such a caring mum as you.
God Bless her, she will come through this, and you will be wondering why you were so worried.
Take care.

It all went so smoothly.
It was discovered when she was under GA she had 4 holes.
They were occluded using 2 Amplatzer devices. She was back to normaal within an hour of coming out of the anaesthetic and we got home early the next morning.
The NHS is alive and well in Yorkhill Childrens Hospital!
