What could this be - scarlet fever or just virus?

(also posted in children's health but very quiet there)

DD had a sore throat yesterday, and then violent vomiting even when drinking water. High temp which came down (a bit) with Calpol.

Today her temp is down to 37.5 (not given calpol today), she didn't vomit in the night despite having sips of water, but she says her tummy still hurts a lot.

Even though her temp is down her cheeks are now very flushed and hot to touch.

The skin on her cheeks have I think a very faint rash (slightly raised). I thought she had the same thing on her bum but now not so sure

About 4-5 days ago she had a reddish rash on both her hands and wrists, which she complained was itchy. This has now stopped itching and it's very dry. I originally thought it was eczema (although she doesn't normally suffer from it but has dry skin).

Now I'm wondering whether this is related to this current illness.

If it was scarletina/scarlet fever, would he temp have gone down?

Her tongue is also a bit white

TIA

With Scarlet fever they usually get a 'Strawberry tongue'. The tongue goes bright red and the tastebuds raise up and look like the strawberry seeds.

The rash also tends to cover the torso but it might be worth taking her to the docs to double check as scarlet fever is a reportable disease and they do a throat swab to confirm. They also prescribe antibiotics as it can develop into something more serious. When ds had it he had 10 days of AB's and had to stay off school for 2 weeks.

no her tongue isn't bright red although I can see the tastebuds..

no rash on torso. thing is she was seen by an OOH GP last night (bec of vomiting green bile) - he said she had slight infection on her tongue and throat and was probably a virus (her cheeks weren't flushed then but not sure about tongue).

If it was scarlet fever though surely the temp wouldn't have come down without treatment?

Rash for mine looked like sandpaper. But it was at first only on torso, it did then spread to other parts of the body. It was immediately obvious. Dd1 was hardly ill with it at all though. No vomiting for either of them.
