My son is now a year old and since giving birth i have had a normal period lasting for about 6 days at the beginning of every month and also about a week later a day of very light bleeding. I spoke to my GP and he said it was my hormones?! This month i have had the usual period, one day of light bleeding, and now today i have had cramp and heavy-ish bleeding all of a sudden. Im getting a bit worried about it, has anyone else had this problem. Im not using birth control and have had a recent smear which was clear and Gp has done an examinaton a few months ago and said i was fine. Should i be worried?

its probably just hormones settling back in . Have you been breast feeding and stopped or are you stressed. if worried would advise trip to gp just be sure.

Would suggest you return to GP and if this person is not helpful ask for a referral to a gynaecologist. If you are still getting this a year on then chances are its not just your hormones settling back down.

Any bleeding between periods should be checked out to ascertain the underlying cause.

Don't be fobbed off - seek a proper answer.

Thanks for your responses, i didn't breastfeed for very long so i doubt it could be that. I will go back to my Gp as i was thinking along the lines of a gynecologist. My gp isn't the best tbh and i don't have that much confidence in him. I always come out of the surgery feeling unsatisfied that my problem hasn't been addressed, i will go else where. Thanks for the advice Mu.
