Can I give blood if I've been taking prescription pain killers?

I'm O negative (needed antiD) and I think this is good. Am finally no longer pregnant or breastfeeding now.

However, I pulled a muscle in my back 10 days ago and had to take co-codomol and a couple of Valium. Last dose was 5 days ago.

Will they turn me away because the drugs might still be in my system?

Don't want a wasted trip.

I know I could wait, but I really want to do this now due to recent posts (already been declined by Anthony Nolan so feel like I need to do something...)

Give them a quick ring tomorrow. They've always been really helpful when I've needed advice about painkillers & giving blood. Never taken Valium though.

I had taken Co- Codamol a few days before and Ibuprofen the day before and they were ok with it. Aspirin is the one they dont like.. I have spoken to the helpline and they told me (and cancelled one appointment) that they dont like you to donate while your in pain.

I was called at New Year and asked to go, I explained I was still taking Ibuprofen but had seen my doctor, again I was told not to go if in pain. I was ok to donate and this was last week
