Itchy head!

DD has excema and uses a bucket full of creams etc for her skin,however she gets a really dry itchy scalp and i have to be careful what i use because of her sensitivity to , well, just about everything! It isnt excema on her scalp, just dry and a bit flakey and itchy. Any ideas what i can do to put moisturise it a bit? Something which isnt smelly or causes her to look greasy and uueewww for school the next day!

I get psoriasis and the only thing that eases it is Betnovate scalp application only available by prescription..is fab tho' no grease, put it on overnight so no smell in the morning and it's soooo soothing.

Is that especially for psoriasis tho as it is not like that, just dry skin really that she scratches, nothing like her excema.
Would it do for dry skin?

I think you can use Betnovate for excema.

I used to find Polytar shampoo great for that itchy scalp feeling.

She has fairly severe excema at times and regulary sees the consultant dermatologist and we have finally found a bunch of creams etc that works for us (aveeno, elidel, steroids 1% and .5%) but her scalp is NOT excema, its just a bit dry and tight so she itches it.
I was thinking along the lines of a particular oil which may help or a spray on something - not sure whats im looking for really!!!!!!

We dont use soap on her at all usually - is polytar available for children?

Have you tried cutting wheat out of her diet, as this was what aggrivated a friend of mine, just wheat not gluten! but she used to get horribly itchy head becuase of this?!

Yes, it worked for me, i hardly eat any processed wheat stuff now and i havent had excema for years. Certainly worth a try, she has appt with dietician on tuesday.

My 7 month old son also has an itchy scalp, due to his cradle cap we suppose. The most effective treatment for his cradle cap has been olive oil, but that doesn't seem to cure the itching no matter how much we put on. The itching seems to often wakes him at night (I find him crying, rubbing his head, or rubbing his head against the bars of the cot...). We've tried different oils, acqueous cream, and a Green People baby salve, but nothing seems to work. We aren't feeding him wheat products (unless there is something in my breastmilk) and he doesn't have any other places with dry, itchy skin. And we don't use soap either. So... I'm looking for ideas too - I'll be interested in what your dietician says!
