Just whacked my head on an open cupboard door. It really hurts and I have a bump. Should I worry?

the bump is on top. I was bending down putting stuff away and got up quickly not remembering I had left the kitchen cupboard door open. Ouch SadShock

I did exactly that move when I was a teen, ouch - and as the bottom of the cupboard door in that case was a thin strip of metal I cut my head open and went to A&E for stitches I had no concussion as far I recall - and was fine but if you feel sick or dizzy etc. it may be wise to be checked out.Hopefully you are just fine heads are tough -i bang mine regularly...

phew - I feel a bit better knowing you are all still alive Grin. I have whacked my head before but jsut wanna be sure. It still hurts and I did it half hour ago. I googled it (I shouldh't do it I know!) and it says that head injuries can kill etc. Talk about scary!

I think a bump is A Good Sign as there is enough room for any swelling

I'm not a Dr though so feel free to ignore me

Bumps out are better than dents in.

If you weren't knocked out, remember what happened and are fully lucid and alert then you're probably going to be fine. Watch out for confusion, drowsiness, vomiting, alteration to your vision and hearing. Tell people in your household that you banged your head so that if any of the above develop they know to seek medical help for you.

Take paracetamol and try a cold cloth on the egg!

My neighbour was a GP whose toddler always had enormous bumps from falling over/down the stairs. He said as long as he could see a large bump he didn't worry.

i think I am OK Smile. Just a bit of a worry as I really gave it a whack! I feel tired now but then that is par for the course for me anyways Smile
