Tired, bloated, missed period, bfn, gained stone in a month. wtf is wrong with me?

I feel huge/fat/bloated and have done for a few weeks. Tired but awake until quite late.
Period 2 weeks late but test done last week was negative.
Put on about a stone in the last month.
Not really eating any different to normal and until school ended, I was still walking lots as live mile from school.
Any ideas what could be wrong with me?
(Have coil that has been in for over 6yrs)

Have you had bloods checked for thyroid and anaemia?

Please don't google! You'll convince yourself you have a brain tumour I did this last month
Get yourself to the doctors for thyroid checks, I hope you find out what's up and feel better soon Smile

To be honest, my biggest worry at the moment is that the negative pregnancy test is wrong! Smile

I didn't want to ask Smile
But seeing as you've mentioned it... Have you been having unprotected sex? And your period is two weeks late, are you usually regular?

Report
Tortoise · 27/12/2011 21:35

Usually regular, but periods very short and light because of coil.
There has been a bit of erm penetration before putting condom on. But I keep reading on here that pre cum doesn't contain sperm!

What sort of coil do you have OP?
And do you use condoms because it's a recent partner?

It can contain sperm if there was some already hiding in the tube, after a wank for example. Best bet is to take another test, to put your mind at rest if nothing else Smile sounds unlikely, but best to be sure. I'd still get into the gp if another negative result, see what they can do for you.

Can't remember which coil, had it for 6yrs +. Yes, new partner and wasn't sure coil would still be effective.
I have another test. Not sure whether to do it or wait 2wks and see if next period arrives!

Do it, you'll drive yourself mad if you wait two more weeks Grin live POAS thread!

Same coil for 6+ years?

Report
Tortoise · 27/12/2011 21:57

Maybe in the morning. Thing is, I know dp doesn't want more kids. I have 4 and he has his 4yr old full time.
Yes same coil for 6yrs + I kept meaning to sort it but local drs don't put coils in.

first thought was thyroid. underactive.

Copper coils last for 10 years (non hormonal and don't get rid of periods, can make them heavier in some)

Mirena coils last for 5 years and contain hormones. With me they stop my periods.

My first baby was conceived with the withdrawal method....with pre cum!

Definitely test again and then go to Dr's to find out what coil you have.

I would say underactive thyroid as you listed the exact symptoms I had before started on thyroxine x

Tortoise · 27/12/2011 22:11

Sounds like I have mirena then as I have very light periods and years ago almost stopped. Regular over the last year though.

You definitely need a new coil then or have this one removed.

Hope the Dr can shed some light for you.

Like many, my first thoughts were underactive thyroid, overactive can make you lose weight, underactive can make you gain weight although other symptoms can be similar. It also messes up your cycle. Try patientuk website for list of symptoms. (I was overactive and the tiredness/lethargy is debilitating). Also it's not unusual to have a false negative pregnancy test, I had one and have a 10yo dd, we were ttc though so I knew I was pg.

Only symptoms that seemed to match on the website is tiredness and weight gain/bloating and i suppose irregular periods.
Will try and do 2nd pregnancy test tomorrow morning.

Hi all.. I'm 11 days over my period, and have been testing negative. I have 2 children so I know how it feels to be pregnant. I have been feeling sick and bloated and really tired. Has anyone else experienced this before.
