Could the Christmas tree be to blame?

For my little boys runny nose and cough? He has had it about two weeks, as long as we have had the real tree - first time we have bought a real one.
Ds is 2 and has been coughing really badly especially at night and yet when we were out at mils today and mums yesterday it didn't seem to bad.
Came back tonight and within ten mins he was coughing loads more and had a streaming nose. The lounge does smell like Xmas tree and I wondered could this be the cause or perhaps exacerbating a cold?
Thanks

could be - there was someone else on MNet the other day saying she and her DS were allergic to Xmas tree...

Could well be. Christmas trees always set me off. I love real trees but we have an artificial tree for the first time this year and it is lovely to not be sneezing and wheezing!

DD is extremely allergic to Christmas trees, took me five long years to figure out the reason we spent every Christmas night in hospital was because of the tree that we used to put up on Christmas Eve and NOT the excitement of Christmas. We now have steroids on stand-by just in case she needs them.
