I was wondering if my periods are normal as i am suspecting they're not. When it starts i tend to have 3 or 4 days of like a dark brown discharge then it goes pretty heavy and i seem to be getting big clots. Today i started to wonder coz i have lost two clots and they looked odd kind of skin coloured......uggggh i know it's a horrible thing to ask you guys but i'm a right paranoid health freak as it is and now i'm thinking something bads going on...help!

everyone is different - but if it isnt normal for YOU then it might be an idea to get advice

linzoid - I can sympathise - mine are exactly the same and so are many other womens. The lining of the womb is breaking down as the progesterone levels fall prior to your period starting. I tried hormone therapy butit didn't help. Now I just put up with it. I got a bit anaemic because my period was really heavy when it actually did start. I now take tranexamic acid when the bleeding starts properly and it has been great at reducing the heavy bleeding.

My clots are more like chunks of liver so think yourself lucky!

read today that being iron deficient causes heavy periods aswell as being a result of them.Vicious circle IYKWIM

Oh charliecat - that's a lovely image!

Linzoid - I've had that, i.e. skin coloured clots. I don't think its anything to worry about

Don't want to scare anyone but with experiance of this I would advise everyone to have this checked out, this happened to me two years ago and my GP informed both my husband and myself that if I had waited an other eight weeks I would have been in seriously bad health, ended up in hospital having surgery.

P.S. I am probably a bit older than most of you younger mothers but I would still have it checked out
