if anyone has ever broken or bruised their coccyx, please can you remember how long it took before you could do normal things again like drive?

i am panicking slightly, as its been around 3 weeks now and i still cannot sit to drive.
i still cant sit properly. i can lean on one hip or the other, or sit leant forward, but i cant sit back.

had a couple of GP appointments, never been suggested that i get an xray or anything.

just wondered from others how long i can expect to be incapacitated.
thanks

Update

Went to see a chiropractor yesterday, said i have a slightly dislocated pelvis - no xray so not sure how he can tell. He did a few forceful movements to my hips but said i need to return 3 more times and then every month - cant really afford this and im wondering if the treatment doesnt give me benefit after a couple of times whats the point of continuing?
The pain is actually a little improved and i can now drive )albeit propped forward on a 'whoopee' cushion so my lower spine is off the seat, look like Granny off The Beverley Hillbillies lol.

Hey I was just wondering how everyone is getting on? I have damaged mine in childbirth and it's still very sore 8 months later, I can't sit down!

Any hope? 😂

I have coccydinia not from an injury. Have had it 2 years. I've had 2 steroid injections which help but there's nothing else they can do. I have an orthopaedic foam cushion for work and driving the ones that are used on wheelchairs it works better for me than a doughnut cushion. I was x rayed at my last injection which they did mainly to see where to inject

Dumbledee have you had the injections on the nhs? I am finding it hard to get anyone to take it seriously!

Yes twice. I got my GP to refer me to a musculoskeletal physio. They confirmed the coccydinia and referred me to a pain clinic. They were the ones that arranged the injections. It has to be done in theatre local anaesthetic but takes about 5 minutes. The first time the relief lasted 6 months and slowly came back. I still had a bit of discomfort but it was a 2 or 3 rather than a 7 or 8

Thanks dumbledee! Do you feel a lot better?

DumbleDee · 08/03/2018 22:27

Yes so much better. Took me a year of pain to get the first injection. Like a say it doesn't remove all the pain but it's a world of difference x
