At the risk of sounding like a twerp...when is hiccups not normal? My 18 month old gets what we call "hiccup days" once, maybe twice a week on average, he gets hiccups which start when he wakes up and continue all day....not persistantly but bouts last for about 20 mins / half hour and then he'll stop for about an hour or two and start again...is this normal?

Hi there Spongebob (square pants by any chance?

dd (now 4) used to be a terrible hick-up baby and ds a few months younger than yours does get them occasionally. I ususally found it was when she or he drank e.g. milk that was too cold. Then again sometimes there were no apparent reasons what so ever. I'd say as long as your lo doesn't seem too distressed I wouldn't worry about it My ds actually thinks it's hilarious if he gets hickups
