period problem

started my last period on 23rd december , it lasted about 4 days. last night i started again.
its a proper period complete with period pain!
never had this before and wondered if anyone could reassure me that these things happen sometimes? usually pretty regular- around 28/29 days.

bumping this as really worried.

How old are you alexmum? Do your normal periods last 4 days or so or was that shorter than usual? Was it much lighter than usual? Changes in weight, facial hair etc?
If you're under 40, I'd go to the gp for a check up.

something like that happened to me once - had a period two weeks after the old one for no apparent reason, then it went back to normal. are you on any sort of hormonal contraception - that can cause irregular bleeding?

A couple of times it has happened that my period stopped dead after 3-4 days, then restarted several days or a couple of weeks later. Both times I was under some sort of stress. Nothing else seemed out of normal.

Once my cat died, but the other time I couldn't really put my finger on what might have triggered it. I was on a holiday that was physically hard work and had been ill on that holiday, so perhaps that was the stress.

The Christmas season can certainly be stressful!

Unless your pattern continues differently to normal, or you continue feeling poorly, I doubt you need worry.

its normally about 5 days or so. i did think it was a little shorter than usual but only by a day or so.i'm 33 and not noticed any other strange things. i did go abroad for 10 days on the day i finished my period, don't know if that made a difference.
i'm really quite freaked by this.

and no hormonal contraception either.i purposely don't use it because it messed up my system so much in the past. when i came off the pill 6/7 years ago i didn't have a period for 13months.
