Hi

My kids and I have treated nits twice with hedrin and combed loads using nitty gritty comb.

They seem to be clear - I comb still and am still finding eggs but no live ones. Little bit of itching now and again but not like it was. Feels like months (OK its weeks) we have been at this - but if I am clear, how long will it take to get the eggs out of my hair (it is long)?

I am tempted to treat again but can't find any new live ones so hesistant. Anyone cleared themselves but taken ages to remove the eggs following an infestation and killing of all living ones?

Bleurgh!

Are you using loads of conditioner when you comb? needs to be done daily but does work.
Also have you mentioned it to school if they are that age as somebody's child may not be being treated and keeps reinfecting yours.

I have had to treat dd tonight! we haven't had them for ages though.

In my line of work I once had to delouse somebody with 1000+. I had to liase with the health protection agency who advised covering the hair in coconut oil and then tying it back . Then comb through with a nit comb daily . Coconut oil stops the nits from breeding . Good luck !

Just to add , nits hate hairspray , it is a good prevention !

Keep up the regular combing; hopefully the number of eggs will diminish each time until you are not finding any.

Next time, consider something stronger than Hedrin - my failsafe is Derbac M Lotion.

Vile things.....
