Need to wee all the time but NO infection? What can it be?

Since I had DS2 about 3 months ago I seem to keep picking up urine infections except everytime i go to the docs and pee on a stick no infection shows up. It seems to be potentially alcohol related as well, but when i have some drinks the next couple of days leave me desperately needing to wee all the time and it feels as if someone is pressing on my bladder. Obviously when I get to the loo there is no wee. It doesnt sting either when I pee.
Anyone any ideas??

could you be pregnant?

hiddenhome · 13/12/2011 18:23

I had this about a year ago and it lasted for 6 months or so. I was really upset about it, but (at the suggestion from some of the girls on here) I cut out tea and it went away Smile Honestly, that's all it was. I'm fine now and just stick to redbush tea.

Try cutting out all fluids apart from Evian water (non irritating), milk and pear juice. Nothing else, no alcohol either.

I was better within 24 hours of doing this after months and months of pain.

You could have cystitis which is inflammation of the bladder and not always caused byinfection. There are different types, I've had interstitial cystitis for months and I put my foot down and told my gp to prescribe trimethropin on a low dose for six months to reduce the imflammation. Search for cystitis on wiki.

I don't think it is cystitis as it doesn't burn when I pee. It does seem to be related to alcohol (Worryingly). I don't drink tea although I do coffee and squash. I have had 2 lots of antibiotics which clear it up but then it comes back again about a week later.
Am definitely not pregnant - my DS2 is only small and I'm steering well clear of the husband! It has only happened since I had DS2. I might try 24 hours of water then!

I don't have any burning sensation. Just needing to go to the loo all the time and slightly crampy feeling a bit like very low grade period pains. Never any burning or stinging.

Mine was exactly the same - antibiotics would clear it up and 2 weeks later it would all be back.

The trimethropin so far is working and I've been on it about 6 months. Missed a few days in August though and it came flaring back.

It sounds like irritable bladder

hiddenhome · 13/12/2011 19:19

Coffee, squash and alcohol would cause it.

Don't just drink any water, it has to be Evian as that's the least irritating.

After being off the tea since about April I can now drink some alcohol. Wine is probably the most irritating and spirits/liqueurs the least. You need some time for your bladder to settle down.

Can I add a possibility of interstitial cystitis I have this and it took years to diagnose, I'm on my phone right now but there was a thread on here some months back with a lot of good advice re bladders in general. I get symptoms when I eat a bite of banana, renders me on pain for days Nd also nuts- potassium foods :(

Mrsdp123 · 14/12/2011 12:20

Thanks have had a little search on here, water and no bananas for me then this week. Not sure I can cope without alcohol in December!

Do you have any other symptoms? Frequent peeing is a symptom of diabetes.
