Hi guys, wondering if anybody can give me a bit of advice? my dd is off school today with what i think is a tummy bug, basically she has been having lots of number 2's! and has also complained of stomach cramps
I'm not sure if i should stop her from eating or not, she says she is hungry but i always thought you shouldn't eat??

The advice has changed I think-used to be 24 hours without food. They now recommend letting them eat if they want to as the passage of food helps take the bug out through the system. (Best to avoid milk and dairy foods though as these can make it worse).

My HV recommended natural yogurt for tummy bugs (it was a good few years ago though as my kids are now grown up) but it always worked for ds and dd. She said the bacterium it contains kills the tummy bug, don't know if it was an old wives tale, but as I say, it always worked for my two. You could try adding a little honey to make it taste a bit nicer, but no fruit as it will go straight through IYKWIM
