Help - driven mad by UTI

Have been to the emergency doctors for antibiotics first thing this morning, but meanwhile am being driven crazy by constant urge to pee and dreadful pain when I do. No position seems to be comfortable. Am drinking gallons of cranberry juice. Help! Any suggestions to ease the discomfort?

Hot water bottle? Paracetomal and Nurofen? Poor you, sounds awful.

It does sound nasty. Don't know if painkillers would help this sort of thing but is worth a try. Hope you feel better soon.

stop the cranberry!! It si great to prevent infections but will make your urine more acidic and sting like hell!! Stick to water. Take paracetamol and ibuprofen. Take those sachets which will make your wee alkaline and stop it stinging. Sit in a warm bath.
It is horrid, and I hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice on the cranberry - for some reason I thought it was the thing to do, but have obviously mixed up prevention with treatment! I'll try some of the other ideas too ... thanks for your help and sympathy everyone.

I drink lemon barley water when I have it, and cranberry supplements in between.

Not sure if you are open to homeopathy- I myself am very sceptical but had Cantharis recommended for DD2 when she was little (loads of cystitis type problems) and it really seemed to help.

Here is a list of homeopathic stuff for a variety of different symptoms. BTW I am not suggesting this is used as an alternative to antibiotics but as an addition.

Might be worth a try.
