Ulcerative colitis - any advice?

I have had a sleepless night with severe stomach pain right across the bottom of my ribs - (payback from the naughty piece of chocolate fudge cake!). I am having a bit of a flare up - 4 to 5 very loose bowel movements - but no noticeable blood, so not the worst by any means, but the pain is just incredible. Saw my GP a couple of weeks ago when this first started but mainly because of the joint pain, rather than the tummy problems.

I am waiting on Drs appts and review blood tests (blood count extremely high). Am taking Petansa and some aloe vera tablets and have some petansa enimas which I could use - just wondered if anyone could recommend anything for the stomach pain. Been taking lots of ibuprofen and paracetemol for the joint pain - but dont know if that will be doing my stomach any good.

We are supposed to be going to a dinner party which has been arranged by friends for DHs 40th tonight - I cant see me eating anything but I really dont want to have to cancel when they have gone to so much trouble.

Any advice please?

Are you aware of the organisation NACC (national Assoc for Crohns & Coilitis Disease)? They have a support phone line open certain hours - details on their website, & I think an internet forum. Might be of some help, maybe later if not now. Sorry I have no immediate practical advice.
