Bleeding from the ear

Found dried up blood in DD's ear this morning, a little down the hole and quite a bit pooled up in the top part of the lobe. I can see the Dr at the end of the morning surgery, in an hour or so, but wanted to ask here if this is common? She's had a bad cold and a bit of a cough (she is nearly 7m) and has been tugging at her ear a bit, but not much - we thought she might be a bit tired or teething but it must have been whatever is causing this.

I had that with ds and it turned out to be that he had been digging at his ear through the night and managed to scratch it inside. It was surprising how much it bled from a tiny scratch.
Hope she's ok x

Could be an ear infection with perhaps a perforation - not that uncommon - or maybe she's just managed to scratch it as that area can bleed quite freely.

Could she have scratched it in hers sleep. Ear do tend to bleed alot even from a small nic.
Sorry I can't be of any further help, but I'm sure someone on here will know.
Let us know what the doctor says.

She could have stratched it (even thought the cat might have done it, but she doesn't generally go too near DD!!). Perforated drum sounds nasty, hope it's not that!

I'll let you know, thanks, feel a bit better to tell someone - DH is on messenger at work but I can't connect to it

It was a scratch, thank goodness! Best to get these things checked out as it was tricky to get to and see. Thanks for your replies.
