Proteinuria first time round..will it happen again?

With my first pregnancy I had proteinuria (protein in urine) so I was kept an eye on for pre-eclampsia which didn't appear (blood pressure was fine). However, because of it I was induced 2 weeks early and eventually had a c-section.

I am thinking about when I hopefully get pregnant again and obviously when that happens I can ask the doctor but I wondered if anyone knew here whether if you have proteinuria in the first pregnancy then whether you automatically have it in the second?

If it was due to a tendency towards pre-eclampsia it is less likely to happen agan providing you get pregnant by the same bloke. Otherwise I'm not sure.

Thanks for your response. Anyone else got experience of this?

Could you have kidney disease, Futurity? That's why my friend had protein in her urine. Babies were fine (2 pregnancies), but she was closely monitored.

They did mention kidney disease but I don't know whether the protein was just due to the pregnancy and the extra work the kidneys are doing.
