So I went in this morning for lap cho, put under and came round to hear that they went in thru keyhole, saw the duct was inflamed and gallbladder too then closed me up. is a smaller hospital mostly for day surgeries hence why they couldn't do more. Surgeon was a real laugh a minute. Said I now need an ERCP and referred me to BRI - in Bristol. Then told me that he couldn't,t work out why I'm not yellow. I am really peed off Because I have seen 2 docs and 2 nurses overt the course of last 3 weeks and only the first one suspected a blockage and did blood tests as my urine was darker and I was having pain. The last 3 said, don,t worry you're not yellow so wait till lap cho. Having read up on complications , such as pancreatitis, I am really frightened. Has anyone had an ercp or been in this position. Sorry for spelling. On ipad and general wearing off. Many thanks

Kind of, had ERCP, then gallbladder out a few weeks later and they lost a stone so had to do another ERCP but it was delayed bla bla then kept coming to my bedside looking at me saying ?well you?re not yellow??.everything turned out ok had the delayed ERCP and 6 mths later I?m fine. Hopefully you will be too once you get to Bristol.

Thanks stomp. The surgeon was so serious and I know they have to give you the worst case scenario but his bedside manner was abrupt to say the least. I'm glad that you finally got sorted. How long did you wait for your ercp? I am assuming that he would have referred me as an urgent case and forgot to ask. I live in Bristol and wish my gp hadn't talked me into going to a smaller hospital for routine surgery as had I been at BRI in the first place I am sure they could have done the ercp there and then. Ho hum. Having looked up blocked duct, I have had every symptom bar the jaundice and still sent away 3 times. At least they know what they're looking at now I suppose. Thanks again stomp, you have stopped me worrying so much for now.

An inflamed gallbladder is a big sign (obviously) of long term gall stone problems, as is the inflammation of the common bile duct.

I've had an ERCP, done 3 days after my Lap Chole, to remove a stone that got loose, was blocking my common bile duct and causing my acute pancreatitis. They also used the time to have a good look at any other problems, so they may want to do this first to make sure that there aren't any stones rattling about. If they find any stones, they remove them, then send you back for the op.

From what you say about not having jaundice, you haven't got an obstruction of the bile duct, which is good news, and another sign that you don't have pancreatitis.

It may be worth visiting your GP in a couple of days, as they will let them know whats going on, and will be able to explain the what & why in detail for you.

hth Smile
