How do sicknotes work?

If you've been off sick for a week, from, say, Weds to Weds, and are not yet fit to return to work.

Also, how do you organise a phased return to work?

you need to see your GP for a sick note which you drop into your place of work, the length of your sick note will be negociated with your doctor. He can place certain restrictions on your work such as light duties only etc. A phased return to work should be negotiated with your boss. Good luck.

GP sick notes have been replaced now by a 'fitnote' - a Statement of fitness to work. If you've been off for 7 days you need to get a note from your GP which will either say you are fit to work, not fit to work or fit but with restrictions and the GP can put on there about a phased return.

Thanks. This is completely new territory for us! Grin
