Jaw Pain

I'm looking for a bit of advice about pain I've had in my jaw for about a week now. Its the left side only and is just generally sore when I eat and talk. Its not exactly debilitating, just more of a niggle and I was wondering whether its worth a dentist visit or will it just fade away? Can't think what I've done to get it.
Any thoughts on whats caused it and what I could do to get rid? Thanks.

When I had jaw pain it turned out to be my tooth. The side of my face ached around the jaw but I had no specific tooth pain. In the end it turned out I needed a root canal. Alternatively do you grind your teeth as apparently this can cause jaw pain. I hope you feel better soon.

I didn't know, but I was grinding my teeth at night causing jaw pain. Got a mouthguard from the dentist to wear at night and all fixed now.

Thanks guys, I did grind my teeth a lot when I was pregnant, so wonder if I've started doing it again? Will give it another week maybe and then see the dentist for a check up/mouthguard.
Thanks (hoping I don't need root canal work!)
