Will the dentist whip it out?

My DD1 has just started losing her baby teeth at the front, bottom jaw.

She's lost 2 and one 'big' tooth is definitely through, however because of another baby tooth which is in it's path (and not remotely wobbly), it's growing at an angle.

Should I take her to the dentist? Would she (dentist) want to remove the baby tooth?

Or do I just let nature take it's course?

I don't think they will take it out as it could alter the pattern of her jawline

Oooh Enid, pls let me know - DD has a regular check-up type appointment in March, but was wondering whether I should bring it forward.

I would say yhe dentist will probably 'remove' the tooth! (pmsl too at title). Ds1 had this and the dentist did exactly that and also took the tooth beside it to save any further bother. Teeth finding a straighter path now.

ps - yes, defo bring it forward, then the dentist can properly assess the situation. Ds incidently didn't bat an eyelid.

No, as a dentist we don't take the tooth out unless the adult one is through and has been for quite a long time, and its presence is preventing the adult tooth fromaligning properly. It will more than likely fall out in due course and the adult one will align itself with no intervention needed. TBH it can be quite surprising how teeth that appear to be coming through in a pretty poor position cacorrect themselves (space permitting) without the need for a brace.

Aero, will do (they're still closed for Xmas at the mo). No I don't think an extraction would bother DD either, she let me pull the most recent wobbly one by hand (it was easy, hanging on by a thread) in case she swallowed it and didn't get her fairytooth booty .

Ds's tooth was well through and he'd been complaining of irritation for some time before it did and that baby tooth wasn't budging at all so the dentist just pulled it there and then. He is almost eight though and that was the first two he lost. The others have now finally started to become loose of their own accord.

ds1 had his 2 x bottom front incisors adult teeth come through about 3 months before the baby teeth came out -- they moved forward as soon as the baby teeth fell out

I did ask about this on MN at the time and was told to leave them alone
