laryngitis

i have just been told i have laryngitis, doctor cant give me any medication for it, i have hardly any voice and my throat is sore and lots of coughing. Is there anything i can take/do apart from rest my voice and paracetamol? Really struggling not to talk!!!

Nothing I am afraid. You can try steam inhalations which might help a bit and warm honey drinks but because it is viral there is nothing you can do about it medically. The most important thing is to not talk at all. Whispering strains your voice even more. i have had a couple of lengthy bouts of it so you have my sympathy.
