Copper coil effects on IBS

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experiences regarding the copper coil. I had it fitted exactly a year ago and all was fine for a few months, then I started to get very heavy and painful periods (previously I would have a very light period, almost no symptoms other than light bleeding for around 3 days). They are now very heavy, very painful and last for around 7 days. I thought this might settle as the GP did say this was a side effect of the coil but should settle, but it appears to be getting more painful each month.

On top of this, I suffer with IBS which I was managing to keep under control for the past couple of years, however the past 6 months, around 2 days before the start of my period, I have a severe flair up and have around 5 days of painful cramps and upset stomach. I also get the same pain in my hands and wrists that I had when I was pregnant and suffered with carpal tunnel. I've been getting quite moody and emotional around my period for the last few months too, which I know lots of people do and this is normal, it's just that I have never had this symptom before.

I'm not sure if this is just my body changing and not related to the coil, but thought I'd ask for any experiences, especially around IBS and the coil. Is it possible that the coil can exaggerate the normal symptoms of a period? I didn't think it could as it's non hormonal.
