Hi Everyone

Sorry to start an extra thread but wanted to ask your opinion.

What do you think about us asking for a separate category for all Cancer members so that we can post separate questions and they not get lost in the huge huge post. I have noticed that someone may ask a question, but because the thread moves so quickly the questions may not get answered by lots of people.

If MN agreed to it, we also need suggestions about what you would want the category should be be called.

It would be good if we could have threads for each member to update others on as well. I am really finding it hard to keep on top of who is having what and when.

What do you think?

Hi Stars

I think it is definitely worth it if you feel it would help, and I can see it might as I know you obviously have some very specific questions, not all of which we tamoxifen ladies are very well placed to answer, being predominantly BC folk.

ALso, some of us are a long way past treatment (thank God!) so we just talk rubbish a lot.

Realistically though, I doubt I would be on that new thread much unless things change. I am hoping not to need any further treatment, and I can't remember enough about it to be of much help on a thread that was devoted to being useful. So I guess the shaping of it should be down to others really. Good luck with it. x

would it be an idea to have a cancer section in health,or sub section ? so that people could get to the point rather than being lost among the cakes and whatnot. I agree that our thread does move very fast and some people's questions often get overlooked or lost. I find it quite stressful thinking I've neglected to acknowledge someone, esp those having active treatment or newly diagnosed where it's really important for them to be supported. Not sure what to suggest apart from that. x

Hi Stars - hope you're okay. I think it's a good idea, as you're right the Tamoxifen thread does speed along with us all wittering on.

Seem to remember there was a thread a while back called something like: 'Check your Breasts', which ran for a while and people could post if they were worried/ having tests for BC.

So there could be a thread called something like: 'Cancer Treatment : virtual hand holding and support', which is blindingly obvious in terms of what it does. Could just be on the General Health section. I'd definitely look every time I log on to see if i can help with advice or reassurance at all.

Hi Stars - I do understand where you are coming from, - with your treatment you need lots of medical answers, which since we are mostly BC on the tamoxifen thread, we can't necessarily answer. Also as you say we do move on swiftly with our witterings Grin

I've definitely thought for some time that a segment for people with cancer, or as Smee suggest' a dedicated thread. Would be a good idea, I think there are lots of people on this forum who have been through various types of cancer, or have cared for someone who has, it's just a question of accessing them, or making it easier for people to access each other.

There are so many different aspects of treatment and recovery, that I think it could well be of interest to quite a lot of people.

Thinking very much of you as I know you are going through a tough time atm.
If you want a voice to lend support for a proposed segment on MN, then just give me a shout. (I think you would either have to e-mail HQ, or start a thread in 'site stuff', outlining what sort of things could be covered) Good luck Smile

(Oh and you know of course that we love to see you over on tamox. if you think there's anything we might be able to help with, or just to know how you are getting on Smile)

sounds like a good idea stars,i would really hate to think i had missed someones question especially when first diagnosed or if someone was having a really bad or down day.

dont forget to keep coming back to the thread to let us know how your getting on.

Hi Stars There are other cancer threads in life limiting illness, but general health is more used. Cancer is a BIG WORD and difficult to come to terms with and also covers a whole range of illnesses with different prognoses. Groups are always tricky - with not enough members they move slowly but with lots of members like tamoxifen thread it is impossible to keep track of everything. Perhaps just pop in and treat it as a conversation say hi to those who are there and let us know how you are doing from time to time. If you had a more specific thread you could use the type of cancer as a heading and you may be able to link up with more people who are going through a similar experience and get answers to specific questions.

Hope you are having a good day.

Thanks Everyone. I'll just keep visiting the big thread. I am not appearing as much at the moment, I keep having problems accessing Mumsnet and it is becoming a real pain.
