Decongestant while bf and pg?!

Am 11weeks pg and bf my DD, I have a stinking cold that I think really is flu. I can't breathe through my nose anyhow so not sleeping very well. Plus I'm fed up of feeling crap.
Are there any decongestants suitable for both pg and bf?

I think it's only paracetamol you can have really.

Why not also try inhaling steam and Olbas Oil to clear your nose, and drinking ginger tea? Ginger is a natural expectorant (helps you to cough up) and you can get a fresh root from the supermarket and keep in fridge or freezer.

I doubt it's flu, probably a bad cold and virus. Flu would have you flat on your back, with chills, muscle pains and a high fever. Not that you're not suffering, but just to put your mind at rest that you probably don't have it to pass on.

I was told I couldn't have decongestants when pg and bf by a pharmacist. Rizzo's suggestions sound spot on thought.

Unfortunately one of the side effects of a decongestant drying up your runny nose is that it will dry up your milk too so not a good idea whilst BFing.

Plenty of fluids and rest is the best thing you can have.

Gah I did think it was prob a no-go Sad

I do have chills and muscle aches but who has time to go to bed when looking after a 15mo Grin

Sigh. Thanks
