Molluscum Contagiosum??

I have probably spelled that completely incorrectly but I believe my 7 year old has it, she has a large cluster of wart like growths on one of her buttocks that she says are itching continually.

Is it worth taking her to the GP if it is this and/or is there anything I can do to alleviate the itching. Is it ok to put E45 on it?

Two of mine have had molluscum, both under the age of 3. Seven is, I think, quite old to get it. The immune system is generally a bit more mature by then. Its never been itchy either, just ugly! So you might want to go to the GP, just to check. E45 won't do any harm though.

If it is molluscum it can take 18 months to clear.

Ds had it when he was 5 but it was never itchy. It lasted a good year. I think it would be best to see the GP because of the itchiness

I wonder if it's a case of she's reached round to see what they are and catching them has made them itch?

It's not pleasant whatever it is!

I got it when DD2 did.

DD2s set of excema patches around where the molluscs were which were itchy.

I satisfied mine by squeezing them hard but DD wouldn't let me do that to hers.

Tea tree oil is supposed to be good at encouraging them to go. takes bloody ages though.

I'd agree get it checked DD had it when she was about 9. It is unsightly and takes a long time to go, the Dr doesn't give you anything, but it doesn't itch.

Dd has it at age 8, she thinks it sounds like a Harry potter spell, mol us um congatiosum or something like that.
She gets the occasional big one then it pops and disappears, then a small patch of little ones pop up. So far it's been 9 months. Just waiting it out.

My DS got it aged before he was 1 and it itched and it has only just gone away - he is now 3 and has scars on his legs from it. DD just turned 5 caught it about 6 months ago. Weird as DS had it all that time then she developed it as he was getting rid of it. Luckily not on their faces DS was concentrated on one leg with a few randoms, DD has them spread over her - mostly around her inner thigh area.

Hi my two DC's had this and a small amount of neat tea tree oil on some cotton wool, dabbed onto the spots cleared it up lovely. Do it daily for a couple of weeks. Gin
