PLEASE any one had these sympoms and found an answer or resolved in time! I WAS TOLD ID BE BETTER OFF POST OP BUT IM TEN TIMES WORSE OFF AS NOW IN PAIN 24/7 OH and i have stomach ache alot and bloating, no diarreah (sp) and feel like ive not eaten for 6 months each morning my stomach hurts so badly... im so deperate for answers and advice.. HedgeHop · 13/12/2011 15:05

Hi Spandau, I've been away from here as I've been in hosp (not related to my previous g/b prob!). I've been thinking of you and hoping you're getting sorted out.

BambinoBoo · 04/01/2012 15:54

Seriously, what next!!!! You may recall that my lap chole was abandoned back in Nov as the surgeon (at the crap hospital that my GP referred me to) noticed a dilated bile duct and inflamed gallbladder. so, he referred me to the main hospital here and they referred me for a CT scan. I had the CT on 17 Dec. Hadn't heard anything back so rang the consultants secretary today to be told that my name rang a bell. MAJOR PANIC IN MY HEAD. Why I ask. The consultant who viewed my CT has requested to see me as an outpatient urgently. MORE PANIC!! The real shitter is that they have lost my referral letter from the first surgeon so it would seem that they are looking at my CT without the background. To make matters worse, they should have booked me in as an outpatient when told to on 29 Dec, but that didn't happen due to Xmas leave and some mess with the cover. So, had I not rang them today, I could still be here none the wiser. The results are now with my GP who is ringing me in an hour to discuss. I am so worried. I am hoping that if the consultant saw my scan without the background that she would have noted the same as my last surgeon and obviously wants to get me in to book surgery etc, but my mind is going into overdrive on all sorts. Just wanted to vent really. Thanks for reading.

Spandau where are you / how are you? Do you want to join forces against the world of gallbladder related fark ups.

can I join forces with you guys? I am another in severe pain post gb removal
:(

I had mine out over a year ago. It was fine until last summer when I had a couple of gb type attacks, blood results were off but u/s clear. It then went away until xmas when I had one of the worst and most prolonged attacks ever :( This time bloods were fine and nothing was found on the xray or u/s. I was therefore discharged with no answer, no meds or painkillers. They said they would refer me back to the surgeon within two weeks. Guess what hasn't happend? Angry

As it persisted I went back to my gp who stuck me on omeprazole and some chalky stuff. He thinks this may be a consequence of the surgery as my digestive system cannot tolerate the constant flow of bile.

Its funny because I remember asking pre surgery if anything else could be causing my pain and would removing the gallbladder be the best option without investigating further. I was laughed at and told that in the unlikely event that did happen then they would make further investigations!

sorry if this is long and ranty but I am starting to feel like everyone thinks I imagining it all.

spandau my gp said it would be trial and error to see if eating fat or in fact going fat free would trigger an attack. If you are finding its fat that's hurting I would stick with pasta, rice etc and also see if cutting out meat helps? Would plain yoghurt help the acid?

BambinoBoo · 11/01/2012 20:46

Hi spandau. How did your MRI scan go. Do they actually know what is causing all the pain now? I'm glad you had a good few meals over xmas; hopefully you have put a bit of weight back on. I had a jacket potato Grin

I got my blood test results and my liver function is pretty wonky. ALT is 163 and gamma is 238 which sounds stupid high to me. I asked the GP if it could be bile duct related and he said it could be but didn't sound like he knew to be honest - but everything I have read today says a high gamma is related to bile duct. He told me not to panic, which means I am panicking. Got another blood test tomorrow. If they are high again, he said he'll try and speed things up so we'll see. The pisser is that i asked the nurse for a blood test 2 months ago and was refused. I am now waiting for an MRCP. Really fed up with this now. Sad on the plus side, I am booked in to see my consultant on 27 Feb. Just hope I get the scan by then!!

BambinoBoo · 11/01/2012 20:49

spandau I really hope you get some answers from the mrcp. I think with Spinchter of oddi they can go in and make a small cut to loosen the muscle so if it is that, there a things they can do to ease it. I will be thinking of you next week.

cutitout I know you are probably not feeling the fighting spirit at the moment, but do keep on at the docs so they don't forget about you. All this has taught me, unfortunately, is that those who shout loudest are seen first. I would normally shy away from bothering an already over stretched nhs, but the only way things have moved for me is by keeping on at people and managing my own health. Good luck.

spandau1980 · 18/01/2012 14:03

My pains back big time! was feeling bit better on amitryptiline and i was feeling easier chest pain had gone and shoulder pain but its back! coming off nexium to see if this helps and then low fat next week to see if somethings triggered it off... i feel so miserable! i agree with BAMBINOBOO those who shout loudest DO get heard first sad but true xxx

OP posts:
CutItOutAndRestart · 18/01/2012 16:18

so sorry to hear the pain is back spandau :( I think I read somewhere that spinchter of oddi problems are like muscle spasms and yes cutting it should release it. I would want a lot of reasurrance about it being the right way to proceed before they did it as I have very little confidence left in the healthservice.

well i did chase up my appoitment. it has not been booked yet as they are sending me for an mri first.

I am now eating very little. Dry crackers, tea and coffee mostly. I have some veg stew cooking but even the smell of food makes me feel sick and that sets the pains off! On the hole I remain mostly pain free if i dont eat, how i keep this up long term i don't know! Oh and the real kicker is i am not dropping any weight and i am FAT, what is that all about??!!!

Bambino have you had any follow up on your blood test yet?

juliecoates · 23/01/2020 11:01
