OK who else wants to join up to be fit and forty in 2006 rather than fat and forty?

That's one of my new year's resolutions.

I'll be forty in early March, so have about 10 weeks to get fit not fat.

Going on a GI diet next week (well, I've got 8 mince pies and one and a half bottles of wine to finish off before then) and doing power walking or running once the snow has gone.

What's everyone else doing?

Oh yes, me, me, me. I will be 40 in October and I really, really, really want to be my proper weight by then. I am giving up booze as my first step, starting today.

goosey · 31/12/2005 17:12

No booze??? Not even a small glass of red as a treat sometimes? The alcohol cuts through the fat don't you know.

Crystaltips · 31/12/2005 17:15

Don't want to hijack but .... I have started a Drink FREE January thread - and so far - I am on my lonesome

Anyone want to join me ?

StarofBethleCam · 31/12/2005 17:16

Can I join in even though I'm starting the countdown to the really big one that comes after 40, so I've got until June 2006 to get back to something resembling my former self, otherwise I'll be stuck like this forever!!

Enideepmidwinter · 31/12/2005 17:17

I'll be 40 in Sept 2006. Have planned long weekend away in Spain with dh and friends so will HAVE to have some semblance of a figure back after third baby (due in May)

help

Me too - hitting the big 4-0 on 2nd April... (what a lot of Ariens there are!!)

WIsh I could be a stone lighter

Loobz · 31/12/2005 18:22

Count me in too although it's been a wee while since I turned 40 but need to lose 3 stones and do some exercise. I am so unfit - do a lot of walking in the summer but nothing in the winter.

bunny3 · 31/12/2005 20:32

Mo we can do it!!! I am aiming for a stone by my birthday and a you have an entire 24 hours more, you should def do it!

goosey, the Slimming World diet is fab and you can drink alcohol every day

elliott · 31/12/2005 20:36

Me too! 40 in July....
Not fat, but could be fitter (couldn't we all?). But my real resolution for this year is to do something that is not work nor child related - possibly join a choir. That will do more for my soul than running!

bunny3 · 31/12/2005 20:38

my new year res is to go out more which conflicts a bit with my other one which is to get slim!

bambi06 · 31/12/2005 21:08

me 2 ...i hit the big 40 in august when is everyone else 40? its gets harder to lose it as i get older i used to do a few quick sit ups..not eat quite as much and it would disappear overnight..my nights have turned into years after i had my second child 4 yrs ago..!!!!
i cant shift the wobly bits around the top of my jeans and tum ..plus i havent got the energy to run around with teh kids anymore..does your energy return when you get fitter?

bunny3 · 31/12/2005 21:10

ive lsot 2 stone and def have alot more energy. I am desperate to lose the spare tyre too. everything else has slimmed down but I still have a bit loads of wobbly fat above my waistband.

throckenholt · 31/12/2005 21:13

wow - there are a lot of 1966 vintage here - me too. And could definitely use some more energy and less weight !

notasheep · 31/12/2005 21:49

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 31/12/2005 21:50
