What's causing this headache?

I have had a headache come on over the course of the day and I've not had one like this before. I do suffer from occasional severe migraines, but I get auras for those with flashing colours and speech disturbance then nausea, vomiting and photophobia. Thankfully, this is not one of those. It hurts across my forehead and my ears keep popping. The pain is notably worse if I move my head much i.e. I stand up or bend, but its bearable if I just sit still mumsnetting. Paracetamol is not working at all. Its very annoying.

How is your temperature. If this is high as well I would go the hospital and get checked out

Might be stress, lack of fluids, tiredness but get off the computer, this wont be doing you any good either

Sounds like a sinus type headache. I had a nasty bout of sinusitis a few years ago and the pain came on over the day to very intense by evening. Bending forward was agony. I was also generally unwell and needed antibiotics to shift it.

How is it if you lie down?

The other type of headache I get God I am such a freak of nature is after I have lifted something heavy or carried dd on my shoulders. Gp said this is a trapped nerve. Needs superstrong painkillers for that one.

My temperature is warm, but nothing worrying. I've just tried getting up and bending forward and that was horrible, so it probably is sinusitis. Lying down is better, but it doesn't go completely and my nose feels like it has bubbles in it. I don't have a runny or blocked nose though. I don't feel too unwell generally, just blurgh, but I suppose that could be different by tomorrow morning.

Thanks for replies, will do as Iamseeingstars suggests and go to bed now.

How are you today Ismeyes ?

Ismeyes · 02/11/2011 21:13

I'm fine now whyme2 thank you for asking. It was the strangest thing - I woke up this morning and my head felt even worse than last night, I was even seriously considering calling in sick. Then I suddenly got a sneezing fit - I think I sneezed about ten times and then headache gone! Very very strange. I can only assume something somewhere was blocked or something, but it was a great relief.
