Good Grief - getting anti biotics is like trying to get class A drugs !

I appreciate about people getting immune to them and super bugs etc. but I have had a chest infection for almost 3 weeks. I'm struggling to breath, have no appetite, am knackered and feel really really bad. I also have an ear infection which makes me feel like I'm under water all the time.

Went back to the GP this morning and he now thinks I have pneumonia and has finally given me anti biotics. The last time I had some was 20 years ago when I had a kidney infection so its not like I have them all the time.

Grrr Angry

Oh that sound awful, you must be feeling really rubbish. Poor you Sad
How many times has your GP refused to prescribe antibiotics before today? I hope you start to feel better soon.

I recon getting the class A drugs would be easier!!

Did he send you for a chest X-ray? Otherwise he is probably just guessing. So if you don't feel already quite a bit better after 48 hours antibiotics I would see (another) doctor as it may not be the right anti-biotics. I would also insist on a chest X-ray. I hope you feel better soon

dikker - he's told me to come back next week if I'm not feeling much better and he will refer to an x-ray. He did say it was "probably" pneumonia and he could hear the infection in my lungs.

copycat - To be fair, I only went once. I had the cough etc for about a week before I went to the GP and that's when I was told it was probably a virus but to go back if it wasn't getting better within another week or so. When I went back today, as soon as I started telling him my symptoms (before he examined me), he said there were so many people in the village with this virus. I honestly thought I was going to have to beg !

Thank you for the sympathy Smile
