GPs refusing to prescribe a drug because it's expensive

I've been on quite a few contraceptive pills - they all have side effects but the only one that is bearable (headaches on the break as appose to weight gain, depression and horrific skin) is Yasmin. But my GP refuses to prescribe it so I have to get in from the family planning clinic where I never come up against any opposition (which I don't mind but it does mean a 1 hour wait at least!). As I have 3 children it's important to me that I don't get pregnant again!! And I got pg on the coil so that's out.

I am wondering whether anyone else has this problem with the same / other medications and why the FPC never kicks up a fuss?

because GPs have to cover their own funding, I think FPC is paid for via some other pot. Horrible though :(

oh I see. I think it's bad that they are happy for their patients to have a miserable time so long as their funding is ok. Not ethical surely?

Mind you, as those of us with children who have SEN know, it's the same old same old really isn't it.
