Dull pain in the top of my neck

Since last Sunday I have had a dull achey pain in the top of my neck, at the back and slightly to the right.

I put it down to having a cold the week before.

Pain still not going away. Hurts no matter what I am doing, whether I am lying down resting on sitting up.

It is more noticable when I turn my head to the left.

Mum wants me to go go to the docs, but I assume I have just got a swollen gland or something related to having a cold.

Does it sound glandular or what else could it be?
