Period again after 2 weeks

WizzleWoo · 28/10/2011 17:44

I normally have a regular 28 day cycle. However, my period has now returned after just 2 weeks, and it is extremely heavy still on day five. I did have a novasure ablation a few years ago which are supposed to stop periods but it didn't work for me. Getting horrendous headaches this week as well.
Do i need to see the dr or shall i just wait and see if this happens again.
Thanks for any help

How old are you?

mousyfledermaus · 30/10/2011 09:01

Iwould go, sounds bad. hope you are better by now.

whyme2 · 30/10/2011 09:04

How are you today?

If it is still bad I would consider phoning gp tomorrow.

Thanks for the messages. Has just about slowed down now and the headache is easing. I am 40, so shouldn't be the menopause just yet.
Now I have to decide whether to see the dr or wait and see when it returns again.

Any such changes should be reported to the GP. I would also ask at that time for a referral to a gynae - something is causing all this to arise and some GPs are pretty much useless when it comes to gynae issues.

I don't think 40 is too young to start experiencing peri-menopausal changes (including erratic periods).

There's every chance that this is nothing sinister...lots of things can affect the menstrual cycle.

For your own piece of mind I would arrange a doctors appointment tomorrow. It's worth having a proper check and your doctor will also be able to prescribe something to ease the blood flow (if this does happen again).

I'm a tiny bit older than you and went to the Dr who ran tests to see if I was menopausal, which I wasn't. I was then put on the mini pill to regulate my periods and was told that lots of women don't get a period at all with it, unfortunately I do but it has really helped.

The other thing is do you have any dd's who've started periods? Dd1 started a few months ago and this month we both started on the same day, which may explain why my periods have been getting closer recently.
