I am having regular anxiety attacks and headaches which makes my breathing laboured, gives me pain in my chest and in my head. I have been unable to download anything to listen too but really I need something I can impliment immediately while carrying on with looking after the children. Not thinking about the things I am anxious about doesn't help as the attacks come on even when not thinking about things.

Sorry you are suffering like this. I used to have regular panic attacks and I know how frightening they can be. I'm sure someone with more expertise will be along soon but fwiw the things that helped me were:
Reminding myself that it is only a panic attack and saying to myself "bring it on, I can take it".
Getting someone to breathe with me or trying to force myself to breathe slowly. In through the nose, out through the mouth (slowly). I think the excess oxygen from the hyperventilating causes other symptoms to worsen.
Long term try to get help with underlying causes. I have heard CBT can be effective.
Good luck.

Hiya, Sorry to hear you are struggling. I also suffer anxiety and panic attacks. The following things have helped me:-

  1. CBT - great to talk it through with someone and you can get it free through the NHS
  2. Relaxation CD's - listen to them before you go to sleep and when the kids are tucked up in bed
  3. Medication - this can be controversial but the way I see it is " if it helps then it is worth it".
  4. Having sometime to yourself - this is tricky once you have kids but even if it is just 10mins bath
  5. Telling your friends/family - at first I didn't tell anyone cos felt embarrased but couldn't believe how supportive and helpful everyone was once I told them.

Hope this helps a bit
Take care :-)
