Ds2 is really grumpy this morning....thought it was just the after effects of yesterday!
Ive just taken him upstairs to help him dress and his trunk and back is literally completely covered in very small bumps.
He isnt good at communicating, due to his Autsim, but he seems to be itching an awful lot.

Each bump is red and looks like a small blister....he has had chicken pox and I dont think its that as the blisters are very very small.
They almost look like blocked pores.

Any ideas anyone????

There has been an outbreak of measles...he has had his MMR...does this stop them from getting measles??
He has a cold and his temp is slightly up.

Cant give Piriton...he's allergic to it!!!

MMR protects against measles, yes. It's measles, mumps and rubella.

Could the rash simply be prickly heat or similar?

could it be hives?? (urticaria)
could he have been in contact with something that just touched his trunk? new top, vest, that could have irratated him?

  1. Is the rash red, itchy and are blisters forming? Yes > This could be ALLERGIC CONTACT DERMATITIS, caused by, for example, poison ivy, poison oak or poison sumac. > Anti-itching lotions and sprays, using ice on the affect area and taking an oral antihistamine can help. If the discomfort is great, call your doctor.

rash flow chart

Thanks for the link Giraffe.
I think it could be DERMATITIS HERPETIFORMIS, a rash associated with a sensitivity to gluten. We have been resticting J's gluten intake over the last few months...the past week I have been a bit slack and he has eaten gluten products....yesterday loads!!!!
I'll keep a close eye on him and will apply some cream and cut out gluten today.

Giraffe, great chart, very helpful!

Who'd have thought there are so many different types of rash!

Misspiggy · 26/12/2005 10:47

What a brilliant chart, Giraffe! I've saved it to my Favourites, just in case...(you never know!)

I only googled 'rash blisters' you know.
