MMR: can you boost immunity before it?

My 16 month old son is due to have his MMR in 2 weeks. Although anxious, I'm going ahead with it. I vaguely remember reading something about boosting your child's immunity before the MMR to reduce the likelihood of a reaction. Is there something homeopathic I could give him? And should I cancel it if he has a cold (he always seems to have a cold...)

Hi Oodle, I can't give any advice on the boosting of immunity (can't think of anything homeopathic, but the classic is lots of fruit and veg), but I have been told that if the cold is just "sniffles" which most babies get this time of year now the central heating has been put on then it is still ok to go ahead with a jab, but if he has more than a sniffle, a proper cold with catarrh and temperature, then it is best to postpone until the cold has cleared up. HTH.
