Bloody Doctors.. GRRR

I have spent the last year in and out of the doctors surgery in relation to the extremes of my periods- they are ridiculously heavy- i know lots of people complain of this but i cant sleep at night its so uncomfortable, i cant go to school, i cant go out. I have to use night ones in the day and a matress protector on my bed. It is getting ridiculous- how am i going to get through university life e.t.c?
The pain is excrutiating, but i only get it for one day right at the start, i have to get on my hands and knees- sometimes they last for 2 days, and on one occassion 17 days! It is getting me down so badly.
The doctors have put me on menafanamic acid, microgynyn, cilest- and nothing has worked, though atleast on the pill i could be prepared! My weight control is awful too- The women doctors have been pretty good, but the male ones think im pathetic- they took me off the pill because apparently "its not worth it just for period pain" (!!!!) grrr! Now they are telling me they can give me a coil in a few months- oh great! I asked to see a gyn but they dont see it necessary- im fed up with tablets and contraceptives surely they should find out whats wrong? Any ideas!

next time it gets really bad, get yourself down to A+E...worked for me, and I was given great painkillers and a few more tablets to take..that was 4 years ago and now i rarely get any discomfort at all.

Lmccrean · 24/12/2005 15:15

sayin that, reason they brought me in was cause they thought it was my appendix!

Oh dear. how long have you been suffering like this? It makes it more difficult having to deal with two rugrats when i'm feeling rough

xjemx · 24/12/2005 15:40

I take it you don't have a youngster yet? I was told that as soon as i had children it would get better, but if anything it has got worse.

oldbuzzard · 24/12/2005 16:42

I also know how you feel. From the age of 14 I was put on the pill for horrendous period pain, and was told that the pain would go when i had a child. Well its 25 years on and two kids later, various painkillers, anti-inflammatorys and mirena coil, which have all been a disaster. Gynae not prepared to do anything as he can see no underlining cause. Quite how he knows this without a scan or laparoscopy, i have no idea.

not much hope then eh? ah well nice too know im not on my own atleast
