You are not supposed to give them anything for productive coughs but it is hard not to, isn't it? My ds3 had croup last week and still has a bit of a chesty cough now, but his nights are greatly helped by raising the head of his bed. Is it night-time you are thinking of or daytime too?

Go to your pharmacist and look for a small bottle of pure glycerine. I think it needs to be mixed with warm water. Doens't help with phlegm on the chest but will soothe the throat and the dryness and/or pain of coughing

its nighttime, as she wakes up with it and it goes on for ages.
her throat must be raw at this stage.
bolstered her up o 2 pillows tongiht.

might try the gylercine on pharmacys advice

My DD has one of those vaporisers - whick sends eucalyptusm into the air ..... works wonders .. burn the oils ... HTH

Just to second the vapourisers, we always put Karvol drops on their pillows when they have that sort of cough. I don't know if it works or not but it seems to.

yes have the karvol too
thanks all, its so frustrating
