Do I need antibiotics for tonsillitis?

I started with a sore throat last night, it's definitely tonsillitis, I got it regularly when little, but luckily I haven't had it for 7 years. Cue my 5 year old having a playdate last week, his friend's been off school with it since.

I'm just wondering if it's worth going to the doctors? I'm breasfeeding, so I'm not sure they'd give me anything anyway.

Would you go? (I'm struggling to swallow a thing!)

Yes, I've taken antibiotics for tonsillitus when breast feeding. also go to the chemist and get hydrogen peroxide, dilute it as directed and gargle it evry couple of hours.

If it gets worse, go to out if hours. Tonsilitis is nasty!

I might actually, never thought of that. I only ever use the out of hours for the dc's.
