Call NHS direct, sounds like an allergic reaction to something. If it were just one leg it could be a DVT - but unlikely to be both at the same time.

merryTissmas · 20/12/2005 20:41

sounds like an allergy. Have you recently started to take any new medicines/ eaten something different?

If it has progressed that quickly, i would get it seen either by emergency GP or casualty

followthestarlover · 20/12/2005 20:41

gosh... no idea... ring nhs direct?
could it be an allergic reaction to something?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 20:44

The only thing i have donediffernetlytoday is eat aPiri Piri chicken roll from Greggs, never had one fromthere before but never hadany problemseating thatkindofthing.

Should i ring NHS Direct then or will they think Iamanoverreacting looney ? Have had acold shower to try andcool the skin but now keep twitching, its just as bad

no definitely ring them. they won't think you're overreacting!
i rang them to ask if i could take paracetamol when i was pg! lol

have you changed your washing powder? or used any bath stuff you don't usually have?

tamum · 20/12/2005 20:47

I agree with Tissy, I would try and get someone to look at it. I'm not sure NHS Direct will be able to do anything other than advise you to go and see someone.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 20:48

No nothing starlover, thepiripiri chicken is the only thing different,I have worked from this morning onwards and there is nothing differnet apart from that

Definitely ring them, they won't think you're over-reacting.

EliBeentoSantasGrotto · 20/12/2005 21:11

Definitely ring them, and if it gets worse I would go to A & E. Sounds really unpleasant, poor you.

WigWamBam · 20/12/2005 21:14

How is it doing now? Have you called anyone yet?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 21:26

Tried not to ring and see how it went but now its spreading again and bloody killing. Am seriously in agony now. Going to ring them now.

My Mum had this recently and they diagnosed cellulitis. Can be nasty. Will try and do a link.

northerner · 20/12/2005 21:38

cellulitis

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 21:39

That is itnortherner. Tight glossy stretched lookingskin, warmth over the area etc.

What did yourmum do?

OP posts:
northerner · 20/12/2005 21:41

She left it and became quite ill. If this is what it is you need anti b's quickly. I'd go to an out of hours GP.

Hope you feel better soon.
xx

NorwegianFir2 · 20/12/2005 21:42

Blimey, you poor thing. No idea what it is but agree that you should get medical treatment pronto.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 21:42

We don't have an out of hours GP, Should I call NHSDirect and tell them this is what i think it is?

OP posts:
northerner · 20/12/2005 21:44

You don't have an out of hours GP?
Yes call NHS direct and they will advise you. I don't think you should wait till morning.

Keep us posted.

SackAche · 20/12/2005 21:45

My Mum got cellulitis in her arm after a combination of a tiny burn on her finger that didn't even blister..... then she was stung by a wasp.... which introduced an infection.... which her body couldn't fight. Hey Presto, red grossly swollen burning shiny hand within an hour or so.... a few hours later she was in casualty with the swelling up to her shoulder!!!

She was put on introveinus anti-bs immediately and admitted. PLEASE PLEASE PHONE!!

followthestarlover · 20/12/2005 21:46

go to a&e!

WigWamBam · 20/12/2005 21:47

Oh, gosh, cellulitis is vile - if it's that you have then you need to see the doctor as soon as you can. At the very least you'll need antibiotics. Please call them.
