Have just seen on the bbc news website that waitrose have recalled a brand of camebert due to e.coli. I have just checked in the fridge and it is the very one I dished up to 12 people at sunday lunch. I'm assuming that now being tuesday we are in the clear?

Looking it up by googling e.coli it seems that we may not be out of the woods yet as it usually shows up 2 days after but can be as much as 5.

Remember that the E.coli found in the Waitrose cheese may not be pathogenic most aren't. A small sample of the cheese would have been tested by a lab and based on the results would have been withdrawn from sale. But also bear in mind that the labs test for any E.coli there but in real life to cause illness there would need to be a lot more present. The E.coli they were testing for is just an indicator of hygiene in the factory not one that would cause illness.

So in fact you and your guests would have to ingested a large number of E.coli IF the cheese was infected. I'm sure it will be fine.
