I think only the vomit and poo are contagious, IYSWIM. If they haven't puked for 24 hours, and have eaten, they're probably not about to puke again.

DinosaurInAManger · 20/12/2005 10:27

I would have thought 24 hours, just to be on the safe side.

Heathcliffscathy · 20/12/2005 10:29

the whole family have it and it started with dniece...moved on to dnephew and now my sister and her husband have it, all in the space of 3 days....so 24 hours after the last person has vomited?

24 hours after the people you're seeing have vomited. You could keep him away from the parents, and just see the cousins? You'd probably be doing your sister and her hubby a favour by taking the kids, and letting them puke in peace.

Ummm - well Nursery says 48 hours. Might be over cautious? - but in the run up to Christmas who wants an avoidable tummy bug?

handlemecarefully · 20/12/2005 10:43

granted it does say 24hrs on NHS direct

feastofsteven · 20/12/2005 10:44

It's 48 hours for things like salmonella - maybe it's a little less for less serious bugs?
