Way to go Pranma! Smile

It's especially good to hear your positive outcome just about now - we have a number of newly diagnosed threadees now, and they'll draw strength from your news, I hope. Glad to hear you don't plan to forget us Wink

pranma · 13/10/2011 16:17

I always seem miles behind on here it is so fast moving but I am always ready to answer questions or help in any way I can :)

cakesandale · 13/10/2011 16:23

oh yes, just dip in where you land, you can't catch up with stuff you miss unless you hang around all day, like me Wink

God I am a timewaster I really need to get on with this bloody copy

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/10/2011 16:38

hooray for pranma- brilliant news Grin

driftwood - so sorry about your news - but be reassured that we are all here to support you - pranma is proof that things won't seem so bleak in time -5 years clear and triple negative. In fact we are mostly all doing really well -working and living and being fairly normal (apart from obsession with cake)
Tamoxifen will seem daunting at this stage- I was really upset by the whole idea (which is why I started this thread 2 years ago !) but it's going to benefit you and honestly the side effects are pretty minimal. I am still having periods so it hasn't brought on menopause -it needn't. Get to know your breast care nurse and just ask whatever you want to know (or us !)
When I had radiotherapy I had hospital transport each day- it was an hour each way roughly. Some patients came from the Isle of Wight and stayed during the weekdays at a local hotel in Southampton -this might be something that is funded, possibly ? Anyway, wine and a treat are recommended- am making an orange polenta cake shortly so stick around.

Congratulations Pranma! (Do you mind me asking what triple negative is? Sounds bloomin' marvellous whatever it is.)

cakesandale · 13/10/2011 16:52

Dee - triple negative means the lump did not have receptors for oestrogen or other things and so tamoxifen, herceptin and all the other hormone type treatments etc won't help reduce the likelihood of recurrence. I think.

smee · 13/10/2011 16:53

Woo-hoo for Pranma !! I was wondering if you'd had results yet, so that's fantastic. Smile

Driftwood, I think most hospitals offer free parking for patients having cancer treatment. Definitely worth chatting it through with BCN. They're usually brilliant. I know mine is.

cakesandale · 13/10/2011 16:53

So it isn't blooming marvellous really, because you can't have any drug treatments that up your chances of a good outcome.

DeeScent · 13/10/2011 17:00

Oh, sorry Blush this is me not knowing the lingo and jumping to conclusions. Have a lot to learn, thanks, cakes.

KurriKurri · 13/10/2011 17:24

Well done Pranma - that is great news. You know you are always welcome - its so good to hear from someone further along the road and doing so well (and as cakes says jump, don't worry about keeping up).

Dee - don't worry, there is loads of lingo and much of it won't necessarily be relevant to you. I think in the early stages its quite good to go with a 'need to know' approach anyway - otherwise you can get totally bogged down and bombarded with info.

Small boast about DS, - he is doing a training course one day a week sponsored by his job, and after 2 sessions the tutor phoned him and said he should go straight onto the higher level course, - which is great because it means he'll get his qual. quicker.

He's also been accepted onto the prison equality and diversity committee, which I know he'll enjoy.

KurriKurri · 13/10/2011 17:24

jump in pranma, - I'm not shouting "jump" at you Blush Grin

cakesandale · 13/10/2011 17:28

Wo hoo for ds, KK. I am glad he is doing so well Smile

pranma · 13/10/2011 17:31

Deescent actually triple negative is blooming awful :)
Tends to be more aggressive than hormone +++ cancers and no follow up treatment as for Her2++ cancers.
Dont worry the terminology is so confusing and you're not to know.I should have explained in my post [so many newbies now].The blooming marvellous bit in my case is to have got to 5 years without a recurrence-and may everyone of you join me in the Land of Ned :)

cakesandale · 13/10/2011 17:34

leaving serious stuff aside for a mo, one of the houses opposite has just had its roof cleaned.

Who has so much money they can waste a stash of it on cleaning their ROOF?? hconfused]

cakesandale · 13/10/2011 17:34

Or even [hconfused]

smee · 13/10/2011 17:47

Did they use a hoover or a mop? [hgrin]

DeeScent · 13/10/2011 17:47

Well, that is brilliant news to reach 5 years Pranma. Much to celebrate. Smile

Cakes, the birds here seem to do a good job chucking off bits of moss etc from our roof. Are your neighbours going to have their drainpipes polished too? Grin

topsyturner · 13/10/2011 17:51

drift - you are not whingeing ! You have had a bloody awful shock and what you are doing is concentrating on the things you CAN control right now . Which is organising the logistics of it all .

kk well done to DS , this prison thing is working out really well for him isn't it ? (Small disclaimer to the newbies , kks DS works in prison - not inmate Grin )

pranma brilliant news ! Celebratory drinkies all round for that news !

Cleaning a roof ? I can barely manage to keep the inside of my house clean ... Grin

topsyturner · 13/10/2011 17:54

Forgot to add , is it too early for wine ?
With not working these days I seem to have lost all sense of propriety Grin

smee · 13/10/2011 17:58

BC allows you to ignore propriety, Topsy so pour away. How you feeling? Are you on the up again, or still stuck with side effects?

KurriKurri · 13/10/2011 17:58

Glad you cleared that up topsy - I'm so used to it, I never think that it could be taken the wrong way Grin

I had a leaflet round for roof cleaning a few months back, I always wondered who gets that done - now I know, - Cakes' neighbours Grin

Update on DH's birthday lottery ticket, he didn't win Sad as he said, he'll have to save the 'so long suckers' speech he was rehearsing for the benefit of his employers, for another occasion Grin

KurriKurri · 13/10/2011 17:59

To early? - I don't think so no, looks like wine o'clock to me.

cakesandale · 13/10/2011 18:17

Wine o'clock for sure. Just as soon as I get dd from Tae Kwon Do (dons chauffeur's hat and heads out of door)

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/10/2011 18:27

hooray for ds KK - smart lad !!
Have the Gu puddings arrived yet ?
There was a thread on MN once asking how often you cleaned your front door -I don't think I'd ever cleaned my front door...
Have bought loads of stuff for friends lunch tomorrow, including olive bread from the Italian shop -and my orange polenta cake is in the oven now !
Am especially pleased to see that Sainsbury's are stocking the barrels of Cheeselets for Christmas - one of my very favourite FBS (fat boy snacks for newbies) I may need to open them - very nice with a glass of wine...

OP posts:
pranma · 13/10/2011 18:36

I'm buying tonight pass the glasses and lets toast NEd may he be our friend always Wine Wine Wine Wine
