Blue Lips in Children

Laraclarke · 04/10/2011 19:36

2 of my 4 children have really dark blue lips. They definitely have not been sucking on pens or bashed their lips. They are not cold or breathless or in any other way unwell. Does anyone know of any viruses/ illnesses where you can get blue lips? Thanks Lara

DO they have any other blue bits?
Finger tips, toes etc?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 04/10/2011 21:11

Is this a very recent thing?

I got blue lips when I was pregnant and had low blood pressure. I don't know if these things were related - my GP didn't really say a lot about it. I do have very fair skin though.

Maybe you could phone NHS Direct, OP?

It's something you need to get checked out as it can be indicative of problems.

Having said that my DD gets blue lips when she's really cold, as do I and we're both healthy.
