everywhere we go children are coughing and 15 month ds has succumbed. Out in the park an older child with a nasty cough sneezed on him [right on him!] and tho i don't wish to pass my hypochondria onto my ds, i do wish children were taught to cover their mouths and noses when they cough and sneeze. My question is, can he get another cold/flu whilst suffering from one already? Just don't want him to be ill for Christmas, especially as we have a 93 year old coming who if she catches a cold will suffer. don't know if anyone knows tho!

I'm no expert but it is my understanding that yes, he can. The cold that he has may be one particular virus and the one that he now catches will be a different virus.

ruty, sympathies, DS3 seems to lurch from one bout of bronchitis to the next with only a day or two of respite in between...

yes, i think so too. we are desperately trying to avoid all illnesses because of my chemo, so we do lots of washing hands (cold virus gets in via mouth, nose or eyes), and lots of vit C and echinacea (sp?). it worked for about 2 months, and we've just got one - that's pretty good for me as I usually get at least two before Xmas.

one sneeze doesnt mean he'll ctch it. hope he stays well.

i hope so misdee. it was just such a wet coldy sneeze! i dread him waking up in the middle of the night again with a high temperature. falalaa he gets lots of vit c but haven;t given him echinachea because of his age. hope your chemo goes ok.
