So last night wasn't an asthma attack but it was an anxiety attack and I have been having another one since this morning.

I am trying to calm my breathing and it isn't happening yet. A little while ago I felt my heart do something weird for 3 beats too.

My advice would be to step away from the computer. Go and distract yourself with a task, nothing strenuous, but that will occupy your mind - sorting out a kitchen cupboard would be a good one. The more you focus on how you are feeling, the more wound up you will get. Posting on here will only encourage you to overanalyse more. So, go and do somerthing else, and you will find that after a while you are engaged in the task and feeling better. You like cooking, don't you? How about baking a cake?

I am going to do a jigsaw.

i suggest you read dr. claire weekes book self help for your nerves. its amazing, its helped me overcome my anxiety.

giraffesCantChaChaCha · 29/09/2011 13:33

how are you? If you keep feeling like this you need some help.

TheOriginalFAB · 29/09/2011 13:46

This is all due to the worry of my child not being safe at school and the process to stop the bullying and discipline the children taking far too long.

I am not sure what the GP could do for me tbh.

Sorry you are not feeling good Fab. It seems like you have stressors which are quite chronic if they are not being sorted out, in which case anxiety is quite an understandable response.

CBT is eery good for anxiety, your GP could refer you to a Primary Mental Health Team. At home, you could try some relaxation tapes, it often takes some practice for the techniques to work. Laslty, you could google 'Mindfulness' for more self help techniques.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you.

I have had success with other self help CDs so I think I will ask DH to down load me something to help with these panic attacks as today it has lasted all day.

how are you?

TheOriginalFAB · 01/10/2011 21:23

Hi, not doing too bad thank you. Bit wary when I feel an axiety attack starting but are managing to talk myself through it so it doesn't get hold of me.
