My ds who was is 11 months has started having what we think are febrile convultions as he always as a high temperature at the time, however his first one was 1 month ago which was fairly severe and lasted approx 10 mins. since then my ds as been generally unwell currently on his second round of antibiotics his temperature keeps rising which is obviously a worry now but another feature is he has started really hitting his head very head numerous times along with sitting back and banging is head on purpose??

Anyone got any ideas please??

My DS has had febrile convulsions in the past - he was ill for about two weeks after the second one - flu I presumed as he was flat out and laid in my arms for about a week (he was two). Sounds like it could be earache or headache? Presumably the doc has checked him over?

As far as I know there is no lasting damage done or side effects of febrile convulsions.

Hope he's better soon.

he's going seeing the consultant again tomorrow, he's also very chesty and coughing a lot and being sick so many symptoms it's hard to pinpoint anything particular?

My Ds2 had a couple of febrile convulsions when he was little, and as far as i can see there have been no side effects, and he is almost 6.

my ds used to have FC's and hd no side effects
we were told to give him higher than normal doses of calpol etc to keep temp down
but you'd need to ask your doc about that as this was 10 yrs ago.
Head banging can be calming for some kids too...

This weekend my son (3) had 2 febrile convulsions and we ended up being ambulanced to hospital. (These have happened four times before over a period of 2 years so I know the score) However I am wondering if anyone has found any alternative remedies helpful in treating this condition eg. homeopathy, acupuncture? to help prevent it happening. The doctors don't recommend any ongoing allopathic medication for him, (which is a relief) beyond the usual paracetomol & ibuprofen during the days following the seizure. He has been scanned for epilepsy and this has been ruled out, they are related to sudden rises in body temperature.
