According to my doctor I have an infection in my ear tract which is the lower part that runs towrds the throat and I have never been in so much pain for so long. It's been going on now for about 2 weeks but i thought it was just linked to the coughs and colds that were going around and so didn't go to the doctors until yesterday when it just got too painful to take any longer.
He tells me that I really only have myself to blame because i have cleaned my ears too vigorously with cotton buds.

My ears and my throat are so so sore that i have thrown away my cotton buds to ensure that i never get carried away again, with my ears or even worse DS's or DD's ears.

You have been warned

You caught 'The Fish Typo Disease' Malory?

DH is mad about cleaning ears and I will tell him about this. He really hurts everyone too!

My mum always insisted on cleaning our ears as kids, I'm sure thats why I am slightly deaf in one ear. I never poke about in the kids ear with cotton buds, if DS has wax I just remove it with a tissue.

I think its ok mummypumpkin as long as you can see it, just don't poke down into the ear.

the best way of cleaning waxy is ears is to get your child to lie back in a nice warm bath with the ears in the water. The water will soften the ear wax and help the ears to clean themselves - ears canals are self-cleaning, if you stick cotton wool buds in you will mess up this system by compacting the wax.
